Ⅵ.Training mode
The doctoral supervisor responsibility system is implemented, taking the combination of the main guidance of the mentor and the assistance of the mentor group. The instructor helps students to think deeply, develop their ability to analyze and solve problems independently, and focus on the cultivation of innovative ability; the course teaching method is mainly classroom teaching, usingmoreheuristic and seminar-style teaching methods to give full play to doctoral Initiative and self-consciousnessthe initiative and consciousness of doctoral students.
Ⅶ.Training modules and requirements
1. Determine the research direction and training plan. After the doctoral students enter the University, under the guidance of their tutors, they should determine scientific research direction, consult the relevant domestic and foreign literature ,carry out extensive investigation and research, put forward the direction of the topic selection of the dissertation, and formulate a personal training plan based on the frontier and hot issues of naval architecture and ocean engineering.
2. Course learning and assessment. After enrollment, The study of doctoral degree courses and professional optional courses should be completed in the second semester, and the integrated modules should be completed in the fourth semester. The assessment method of degree courses is unified as examination (closedbook or openbook, mainly written test). The evaluation methods of professional optional courses and integrated modules can choose formal exam or informal exam, and informal exam can be written test, reading report, laboratory report, etc.
3. Academic activities. Doctoral students must actively participate in various academic activities within and outside the school in naval architecture and ocean engineering or related fields, and meet the requirements of the "JMU Detailed Rules for the Implementation of Academic Exchanges and Practical Activities for PhD in naval architecture and ocean engineering."
4. Mid-term assessment. From the third semester to the fourth semester after the admission of doctoral students, a five-person assessment team is composed of members of the professor committee of the college, doctoral supervisors and teachers with senior titles in the discipline. Students will be comprehensively assessed in terms of political ideological morality, course learning, scientific research practice ability, preparation of the dissertation, and physical and mental conditions. The mid-term assessment focuses on the scientific research literacy and preparation of the dissertation of doctoral students. Those who fail the mid-term assessment or obviously lack scientific research ability, or who are not suitable to continue studying for a degree due to other reasons, shall terminate their studies.
5. Literature review. Doctoral students should extensively and meticulously consult the relevant domestic and foreign literature of the discipline, with a total number of no less than 100 (including no less than 30 foreign literature), and a literature review report of no less than 5,000 words must be completed before thesis proposal. The literature review report should fully reflect the insights into the problems in the subject area. The literature review report must be reviewed by the supervisor.
6. thesis proposal. The doctor’s thesis proposal should be given in the fourth semester after enrollment. Before the thesis proposal, the doctoral student must complete the degree courses and professional optional courses in the personal training plan. The doctor’s thesis proposal should be completed under the guidance of the instructor and passed the examination of the thesis proposal assessment team. The thesis proposal assessment team consists of doctoral supervisors and peer experts with senior professional titles, and there are no less than 5 members. Only those who pass the thesis proposal can enter the dissertation stage. The topic selection of a doctoral dissertation should be closely related to the development direction of the discipline, has important theoretical and practical significance, and can reflect the Cutting-edge and advanced characteristics of the discipline.
7. Dissertation. The dissertation is an important part of the training of doctoral students. It is a comprehensive training for doctoral students to carry out scientific research or undertake specialized technical work. It is the main partto developdoctor’s innovative ability, comprehensively use the knowledge they have learned to discover, analyze and solve problems, and should be completed independently by the doctoral student under the guidance of the supervisor.
Ⅷ. Degree Dissertation work
1. Process assessment of the dissertation. The Process assessment is carried out half a year after the opening of the thesis. At least 5 peer experts with senior professional titles or associate senior professional titles with a doctorate from inside or outside school shall form an expert group to review the Process assessment report; There are no less than 3 doctoral supervisors in the group.
2. Publication of academic papers. The published academic papers of doctoral students shall not be lower than the relevant requirements of the "JMU Implementation Rules for the Granting of Master's Degree and Doctorate Degree ".
3. Apply for thesis defense. Before applying for the thesis defense, doctoral students must complete the degree courses, professional optional courses and integrated modules in the personal training plan, and all formal exam (informal exam) results must be above the pass (including pass). The doctoral dissertation must pass the "Dissertation Academic Misconduct Detection System" test, and the format of the dissertation conforms to the "JMU Guidelines for the Writing of Doctoral Dissertations in Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering ".
4. Dissertation review and (pre-) defense. The pre-defense of the dissertation is organized and implemented by the doctoral supervisor; the pre-defense is generally arranged 2-3 months before the formal defense. The dissertation review is generally arranged 15 days after the pre-defense, and each doctoral dissertation is sent to 5 off-campus doctoral supervisors in the field of Naval Architecture and Ocean Engineering for review. A formal defense can be arranged for qualified doctoral dissertations. The Doctoral Dissertation Defense Committee is composed of 5-7 professors or experts with equivalent professional titles in the subject field, among which more than half are doctoral supervisors, and there are at least 2 doctoral supervisors outside the school.
Ⅸ.Requirements for award of PhD degree and graduation
Doctoral students must complete all the courses and other training courses in the personal training plan, and all formal exam (informal exam) scores must be above the pass (including qualified), complete the thesis work and pass the defense, in line with the "JMU Doctoral Candidate Training Work Regulations" "And "JMU Master's Degree and Doctoral Degree Award Implementation Rules" requirements, and you can get a graduation certificate and degree certificate.
Ⅹ.Others
1. Doctoral students should report their study and research work to the supervisor or supervisor group at least once a month during the course study phase and at least twice a month during the thesis work phase.
2. The development of this training plan will be implemented from the 2020 level of doctoral students.
